Remember when I told you I'm obsessed with collecting good names like a dragon hoards treasure? And how I invited you to email me if you wanted a cameo in a book? Well, all of that is STILL absolutely true. Your name could end up on a charming bakery owner or a suspiciously knowledgeable gardener. I'm not backing down from that offer. BUT (here comes the part where my fictional legal team makes me add a little disclaimer)… While this story may feature places that sound familiar and characters who might remind you of people you know, everything happening in this book is complete fiction. It all springs from that magical, slightly chaotic place in my brain where imaginary people have lengthy conversations, bake elaborate desserts, and tend to suspiciously perfect flower gardens in picturesque mountain villages. Any similarities to actual events or real-life people are purely coincidental. Or maybe just a product of innocent admiration. (Because let's be honest, if your Aunt Martha makes the world's best lemon bars, my fictional character Mildred might too.) Think of it this way: I'm writing about the essence of small-town charm, not a documentary. Nobody's actual secrets are being spilled. Just fictional ones. With fictional consequences. And fictional amateur detectives who really should leave things to the professionals but never do. So yes, email me your name or what you think is going to happen next! Just know that Fictional You might end up doing things Real You would never dream. Like discovering a dead body behind the begonias. Or maybe putting one there. What I'm Reading (A Little Late to the Party)I just finished The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally Carter. It was recommended to me, and it was a fun read. Very fluffy and fun. Obviously a little out of season at this point, but the way it's suddenly dumping snow in my neighborhood, it wasn't hard to pretend. Nothing says cozy mystery quite like a snowstorm and suspicious circumstances, am I right? Fellow Authors to Check OutA few fellow authors have asked me to let you know about their books.
