☀️ Real Life Was Delightful. Sienna’s Life? Not So Much.
Out here in the real world, this week was nothing short of magical. Fresh peaches, summer rainstorms, and the warm golden glow of my absolute favorite time of year. I’ll admit this month gets a little extra sparkle because it happens to be my birthday month. 🎂✨Yay!
I love almost every season in the Rocky Mountains where I live, but there’s something extra special about this time of year.
Good thing real life was so lovely, because let me tell you… Sienna’s world this week was downright rough.

🔍 The Research Rabbit Hole (It Got Deep, Friends)
I did more research for this chapter than I have for almost any other in the entire history of chapters. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. I have done an impressive amount of resurch over the years, our fiction may be cozy, but we still want the details to be accurate. Am I right?! 😄
Here’s the good news: unlike last week, my research assistant (aka The Internet) was fully on my side this time around. It seems the worldwide web has finally gotten comfortable with the distinction between fiction and felonies.
This week, the internet generously supplied me with everything I needed to know about:
- 🏛️ The London City Police — who they are and how they operate
- 📍 Which station Sienna would have been brought to
- ❓ What questions detectives would likely ask her
- 📋 Which procedures they are legally required to follow
ETC, ECT, ECT…
Fascinating? Yes. Fun? Debatable.
I have never been drawn to police procedurals, they tend to get a little too gritty for my taste. But if I ever had even the slightest inkling that I might want to write one someday… this week squashed that idea good and dead. 🪦 RIP.
Give me an amateur sleuth and a cozy cup of tea any day of the week. That’s where my heart lives.
🐾 My Very Hard-Working Co-Writer
This week deserves a shout out to my other assistant, my dog. You know you’re an offical writer when your two closest colleagues are your computer and your dog. LOL.
There I sat, completely absorbed in Sienna’s very complicated murder mystery while my dog lay across the floor beside me like a ginormous toasted marshmallow.🍡
Eyes half-closed. Sighing dramatically every twenty minutes. As if she were the one doing all the hard work.
