Happy Monday! I wrote this email on Saturday cozied up in my car waiting for a football game to start. After driving for an hour I sat in a tiny town nestled between the glorious Rocky Mountains. It was wonderful inspiration for my current cozy romance, Death at Dogwood Lake.

The Crime Brûlée Bake Off by Rebecca Connolly
Okay, confession time. I need to tell you about The Crime Brulee Bake Off… and why I’m conflicted. For three-quarters of this book? I was CHARMED. Fun premise, cozy vibes, fresh enough to feel engaging. But then the ending happened. Sigh.
Plot Twist:
There was no twist.
The killer was too obvious. The motive didn’t satisfy the buildup. And I closed the book feeling… meh. Maybe it was my mood. Maybe my expectations were too high. But you deserve my honest take, right?
The verdict: If you want something light, fluffy, and squeaky clean for a lazy afternoon, go for it. But if you’re craving a twist that’ll make you gasp out loud, skip it.
What I’m recommending NEXT: Something I already know knocked my socks off. I’ll tell you all about it next week (and yes, it’s still cozy—just with a bit more edge).

Every clue. Every twist. Every red herring. All mapped out and ready to go!
I’ve been writing this one week by week and sharing the journey with you as we go (which I absolutely love), but NOW? Now I can make sure every breadcrumb gets planted at exactly the right moment. No loose threads. No forgotten suspects. Just a tightly woven mystery that’ll keep you guessing.
I’m SO excited to continue this adventure with you! 🚤💀

Still impatiently waiting for new Only Murders in the Building episodes every week—WHY can’t we binge it?!

In other news: Nate’s obsessed with The Golden Bachelor. I find it kind of boring, honestly, but it’s the perfect excuse to snuggle up with him after a long day. Sometimes that’s all you need, right? Low stakes, no drama, just cozy companionship.
Kind of like a good cozy mystery. 😊
