The Case of the Ghosting Designer (And Other Mysteries!)

Dear reader!

You know that moment in a cozy mystery where the detective thinks they've hit a dead end, but then—just when hope seems lost—a crucial clue appears? Well, that's been my week. Let me pour us both a cup of cozy hot chocolate, and I'll tell you all about it.

But first, there's a new episode of Death at Dogwood Lake out! I can't believe we're already on chapter seven!

📚 The Cover Design Caper

Remember how I mentioned trusting my cover designer with this next book? Well, plot twist: he vanished. Completely ghosted me. For over a week, I heard nothing—not even the digital equivalent of crickets chirping in the night.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, of course. Life happens to all of us. But after his previous lightning-fast responses, the radio silence was… concerning. Just as I was about to launch a full investigation (okay, maybe just send another follow-up email), I heard back from him!

The good news? He's been working on the covers and promises to have them ready by tomorrow. 🎉

The great news? I get to share them with you soon! I'm cautiously optimistic they'll be exactly what this story needs. Fingers crossed!

🔍 The Ending Enigma

Now for the bigger mystery I've been unraveling: endings.

The closer I get to wrapping up this short story, the more I feel the weight of getting the ending just right. After our recent conversations about disappointing book endings, I'm determined not to let this story suffer the same fate.

Here's what I've discovered: this isn't just a "me" problem. The issue with unsatisfying endings is much bigger than I originally thought. While we all have personal tastes, there are fundamental principles of good storytelling—principles that, frankly, too many books have been ignoring lately.

I've been doing some serious digging into what makes an ending truly satisfying, and I'm learning SO much. Now I'm hoping and praying I can overcome the obstacles that tripped up those other books and deliver you the ending you deserve.

No pressure, right? 😅

💡 The Breakthrough!

I saved the best for last!

I had a massive breakthrough with the outline for my next book. It's an incredible feeling when puzzle pieces just… click into place. When everything suddenly makes perfect sense.

That's exactly what happened, and I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement! I know you understand this feeling—it's a big part of why we all love mysteries, isn't it? That satisfaction when clues connect and the picture becomes clear. I tell the whole story on this week's podcast episode. Check it out!

So there you have it—my week of mysteries, both solved and ongoing. Thank you for being on this journey with me. Your patience, enthusiasm, and love for these stories means everything.

xoxo – Lindsay
